The sad fact is that my dad possibly dying has been one of the best things to happen in my relationship with him. He actually puts in effort now when my brother and I see him, making conversation and being cheery. If he is dying, I might be able to make peace with him before he does, and if he isn’t, then he might not take his children for granted anymore.
